Welcome students, parents, and fellow Jaguars!
I'm ecstatic to begin my seventh year of teaching, fifth year as a part of the Athens Drive family! At "The Drive", you can expect to find a welcoming, diverse community that prides itself on offering rigorous academic studies paralleled with an abundance of extracurricular activities. I have no doubt that you will be able to find a place and become involved at ADMHS, both within and without the classroom.

I graduated from U.N.C.W. (UNC-Wonderful, as I so fondly call it) in 2014 with a B.A. in Secondary English Education. In addition, I am a North Carolina Teaching Fellow Alumni.
This year, I will be teaching English I and Honors English I, as well Sheltered English I and II - a new course for English language learners. In addition, I coach JV Volleyball and Varsity Softball here at Athens. For more information about courses, resources, and assignments, please visit my Canvas pages listed on the ADMHS homepage. |
Below you will find my "This I Believe" teaching philosophies. These are my five proclamations I firmly believe and uphold in my classroom, my relationships with my colleagues and students, and profession. As the world of education is ever-changing, these remain my pillars for a intuitive, passionate, and successful career of lifelong teaching.
I believe that it is my responsibility to establish the positive atmosphere of my classroom through enthusiasm, professionalism, encouragement, and ingenuity.
I believe that first and foremost, I am a teacher of young minds and not a teacher of content-specific curricula.
I believe that every student learns differently, but all possess the ability to learn.
I believe that as a teacher, I must know when to stand up, speak up, and shut up.
I believe that teaching is more than a job, it is a lifestyle; a lifestyle in which I continually foster academic and individual growth for both my students and myself.
